On May 8, 2010 we had really beautiful celebration of an official blessing and opening of the first convent of Sisters of Resurrection in Africa. Bishop Michael Msonganzila of Diocese of Musoma presided over the celebration. The Holy Mass was celebrated also by many priests and attended by invited guests and the whole school community. It was a very happy day for our students as they sang and danced during two hours thanking God and all people who cooperated with Almighty Father in this construction of complete convent compound with underground water tank, solar system, polytanks, full electrical wiring... see the new photo gallery!

We celebrated also the ordination anniversary of Father Wojciech Koscielniak who supervised the construction and built it with his workers. They started the construction works on November 14th, 2009 and - with just a few short periods of necessary rest - finished in April 2010. Two new classrooms were built too as a development of the school. Bishop Michael Msonganzila blessed them too. Then we had lovely chat at the table, deepening a sense of togetherness and community. Everyone enjoyed the time of this memorable evening.

  • On the Mock examination in preparation for the Form 2 National Examination, there were 153 schools in our Mara Region with 14,514 students taking the examinations, Chief Wanzagi ranked 5th among the schools. We were very proud of our students, that in the very first year of taking these examinations, they had an average just 1 point below the three schools tied for second place. Our school was one of only 3 schools that did not have any failures among the students.
  • The Form 2 students were able to take their National Examinations the first week of November. These examinations from the entire country are corrected by a team outside the school, chosen by the Ministry of Education. Here are some statistics:
    • Most importantly, there were no failures. This is very rare. It is also important because a student who fails the National examination cannot continue his/her education. The Ministry of Education mandated that most students begin their new school year on January 11, but the results of the National examination were not in by that date. This meant that students reported to school for Form 3, but would have had to leave the school two weeks later if any had failed!

    • The Ministry of Education broke down the results into a few large regions of the country. The Lake Region in which we were ranked is quite a large region which included 628 schools with some of the best in the country. Chief Wanzagi ranked:
      - 39th out of 628 in their composite score - or among the top 6% of the schools. In American terms, this would mean the 94th percentile.
      - English was their best subject, in which they ranked 13th out of the 628 - or among the top 2% of the schools. Again, in American terms, this would mean the 98th percentile.
      - Even in their poorest subject, physics, which is especially difficult for girls in that country, they ranked 158th or among the top 25% of the schools.
  • Because of a lack of classroom space, we were only able to accept 55 students for the Form 1 class.
  • The new school year, our third year of existence, started on January 7, 2010.
